Ugh - In vanilla WoW I thought the leveling was o.k., maybe a bit too fast, but as the expansions came, they made leveling up way to easy. I agree that they made the entire game too easy. 5-mans, heroics, raids...all pretty cake. At one point in a guild I was in they started doing runs and replacing one piece of epic armor with a blue, then 2, then 3, just to see how far we could "un-epic" ourselves and still do the content. In the end, some DPS and off heals were in at least 1/2 greens.
Spooky - I thought EQ and DAoC had an "epic" feel as well. I never played AC.
If the game is good and fun to play, you'll be enjoying it too much to worry about getting to the max level. I tried that in Rift and I still hit 50 (Cleric) in less than a month. End game is important, don't think that I want to get to max level and have nothing to do, I just want to have fun getting there as well.
