SW:TOR, GW2, next Blizzard MMORPG are ones I'll give a try. What I'm really looking for I haven't heard of yet. It will be that next new thing that I only found out about because you can't go anywhere without reading how cool it will be. I don't know if it will fit into the MMORPG category or be some new MMO...thing/combination. Otherwise I think I'm done with the current model after trying those 3 I listed.

Why would it? That's how every MMO since the beginning has been. It's not really an MMO at that point if it doesn't have at least most of these things.

Exactly my point. There are some that diverge from The Plan(tm) (The Sims is the only thing I can think of off the top of my head) but there's no reason someone can't come up with a better idea. I'll grant you that you'll probably still see leveling/experience that affects character capabilities but the railroaded questing and "Do activity X a bajillion times to advance" mechanics have plenty of room for creative rethinking.

Guild Wars 2, maybe. Won't buy it until I can try it for free.

And a very slight maybe for SW TOR, once I can try it for free, but it looks like that game is going to tank badly, so not getting my hopes up.

The only one that matters, Guild Wars 2.

Bye bye Holy Trinity.

The one that doesn't have the same formula that the entire current crop uses. Namely:

level up

spend points as you level to "customize" (lol) your character

grind [stat/faction/money/etc.] to gain arbitrarily delayed rewards

repeat steps 1-3

[optional] participate in canned PVP with a tiny, limited population, in a "balanced" (lol) class mechanic
I'm sure one will arrive someday but nothing I'm seeing now breaks the mold. Also, I'm not looking at MMO-FPS games at all.

How much do you know about Guild Wars 2?

Sounds like an audacious feature/design list. We'll see how much it actually accomplishes. Being F2P, at least it'll be cheap to try out.

Go watch Gameplay, Arena Net isn't hiding anything about the game, plenty of official and unoffical videos up.

They'll be showcasing the game again at Gamescon in a couple of weeks.

New stuff that will be added for Gamescon:

Seven professions – Play all seven professions that we’ve revealed so far: engineer, thief, guardian, necromancer, ranger, warrior, and elementalist.
Charr starter experience – For the first time, you can forge your destiny as a member of the Iron, Ash, or Blood Legion in our charr starter area. You can also choose to play the human and norn starting experience as well.
Mid level demo – As always, we’ve prepared a higher level demo experience for players who want a challenge. Face powerful Orrian enemies on land, engage them in battle underwater and face off against a new boss.
Sylvari and asura – Did I mention that you’ll be playing sylvari and asura characters for this high level content? Yes, for the first time, players will be able to get their hands on these unique races – believe me, they are impressive!
Character appearance customization – Also for the first time, you’ll be able to play around with our character appearance customization feature and control the way your character looks.
PvP – Last but certainly not least, we’re premiering Guild Wars 2 Player vs Player (PvP) at gamescom! Swing by the ESL booth and head to the Guild Wars 2 area to get your exclusive hands-on PvP experience. Also check out our periodic exhibition matches that pit our valiant team of ArenaNet developers against the European guild BOON Control on the ESL center stage!

TentonHammer did an interview during Comic Con where it Talks about dungeon design in the game.

MMO Lite like GW or PS doesn't interest me at all but I think those are more ideal titles for PvPers (far better chance of quality PvP).

SW:TOR, meh, I'll likely try it but I doubt it'll be anything fresh. In gameplay vids it's the same holy trinity just with screwball classes and lots more dialog kicking off missions that'll befuddle the ADD instant everything crowd. You'll cast a fireball with the force, chop someone up with your lightsabre +5, heal with your uber quality medpak, etc - same stuff, different wrapper, and so much more convincing with a fantasy wrapper than a sci-fi wrapper, even if it's SW.

Secret World looks somewhat interesting with its alternate way of building toons and setting but I'm not seeing how a game like that can hold peoples interest for very long like a more typical good MMORPG. They are doing some typical things differently though, and if they do it well, could be intersting. But it's funcom and that could easily mean early disaster followed by loss of interest.

So I guess, most interested to see what Blizzard might do with their next MMORPG since they revolutionized the genre with WoW, have undoubtably learned a lot, and most likely GC has nothing to do with it which is probably the best thing it has going for it. On the flip side, I'm reall sick of Bliz coming up with ways to try to milk players for more money. You get the subs money, deliver something in return regularly. Period. Some trying to milk players for more money for trivial BS. I dread seeing what they might build into their next MMO in terms of attempted milking.

Not sure if you are referring to GW overall as MMO lite, or are including GW2 into that mix, but GW2 is a full fledged MMO and isn't the instanced based game that GW one currently is, the most common complaint against GW 1.

Also having never played DaOC, but hearing how many players loved its Realm vs Realm PVP, the PVP system for GW2 will be a two week battle roayle between 3 Realms where a neutral territory in the middle of the map is fought for, as well as the other players territory. After the two week battle is over, your server is ranked and will be matched with another 3 realms of similar skill.
