Gameplay is more important than being able to customize the appearance of your avatar.

Of course gameplay is more important that appearance. That doesn't mean they can't at the very least give crafters the ability to customize the appearance of either the stuff they create or other peoples' stuff. It seems like a relatively small change that would further enhance the game.

What's amusing about this is that one of the requests (to make new/good armor look like old/cool [T3/etc.] armor) is as simple as swapping a graphic ID struct. They don't even need to do much coding. Dyes might be an honest dev effort but can you imagine how happy people would be if they could make current hunter gear look like Dragonstalker/etc.?

Didn't someone from Blizzard say they didn't want to do an appearance tab because it would hurt the art teams feelings? This [tos_profanity] company sometimes.

its probably not about how easy it is to do it or how lots of people want it, but thats its just a bad idea. if they gave everything people ask for why not just give everyone unlimited gold and free exp as well.

I have no idea how you went from cosmetic tweaks to fundamental game-altering mechanics. Pass the bong, brah.

anyways as i said above i think being able to estimate a character's strength or spec from their gear is a good thing.

What, so you like PVP but you only like predictable PVP? Where's the risk/excitement in that? Might as well have full-time radar with hover-over tooltips that show you a "PVP gearscore" or something so you know when to stay in stealth. You do play a stealth class, don't you?

having it revert to default skin only in instances is no good for me at least since i do most of my pvp in the outside world. not to mention WoW is an epeen game. many people probably like showing their status by having the best gear set and letting other people see it. there is a whole achiement system with no rewards that people compete in just to show off that they have more points than each other afterall.

Thanks for being honest. I'm still laughing at you but honesty is good. Also, this is an _option_ you can choose, not a permanent global item change. I'm beginning to wonder if you're even reading these threads or just knee-jerking to the first thing you disagree with.

Shenron_ posted:

as for the dyes i think they said its not possible with the item system or something awhile back didn't they? think they said something about because how the detail of the items are its not so simple to just change a single aspect like the color

Dyes are indeed something completely different as it has texturing/alpha implications that need to be tested to make sure they don't look retarded in certain lighting or in other edge cases (like when people turn red from rage effects or blue from freeze effects or green from poison effects). People were _already_ doing simple model swaps on gear and class models at home before Blizzard cracked down on that and it worked fine with some animation caveats (like certain models didn't have a /dance animation, etc.). Remember how Blizzard slammed druids using model swaps that made their cats look like worgen way back in 2006 or so?

Blizzard will never do this, which is why model editing is so rampant.

I, on the other hand, prefer a command-line system 'cause i'm so hardcore
/north /north *You encounter an [Avatar of the god Set]!*
/cast sheild *sheild spell unavailable*
/csat shield *csat: unknown command*
*[Avatar of Set] beheads [Peasant]*
