You say "free to play"..
I say "developer not confident enough in their product to attempt to charge a monthly fee"
If that bothers you, I really do not care. (but it does make me chuckle a little)

Personally, I share Gutter's concern about F2P setups ruining immersion by nickel-and-dime'ing you to do anything worthwhile. Differing opinions are not automatically invalid simply by being contrary to your own. Of course, whether GW2 avoids these concerns and does something fun remains to be seen. Beatification of a product based on marketing and beta feedback is naive but very amusing. I certainly hope it lives up to the stratospheric hype, if for no other reason than to push the genre forward from where it has stagnated for most of the last decade.

Pantherr,
My opinion is that free to play sucks.
Since GW is going to follow this model, it automatically sucks without me doing one iota of research about it.
Please, continue to prove my "opinion" wrong...
..I get a good laugh every time you try.

I'm not arguing with your opinion. You are free to hate/dislike/like any gaming model you choose. I'm not a real big fan of f2play either because most of them do sucker you into buying gear or other items in game to be able to play. I am refuting your statement that GW requires you to spend money in game to advance your character. That is simply not true.

Oh, well then you need to re-read the ENTIRE thread,
and particularly take notice to the word "usually" from my original post, and then understand I was answering Kook's question in another, as to why 15 dollars one way is not the same as 15 dollars another to me.
THEN realize how stupid you look.
Meanwhile, I'll still be laughing at you.

I could care less about GW2 myself.I hated the first one and I am sure I will hate this one as well more power to the ppl who will enjoy it.15 bucks a month sub fee is a fair price to me I don't l ike the B2P or P2P models personally as they tend to always nickel and dime you to death.I wish LOTRO and EQ2 both would make one server be a reg sub server with no store at all on it.I like both games decent enough but it irratates me every time I see the store icons on the gui's.Hopefully WoW never does that and they leave it on there website.

I don't know what GW2 is going to do, not being as high on a kite on it as so many people are. I see it as just another disappointment in a long list of disappointments since the first true MMO came out, which was Ultima Online.
However, the "free to play" model where you need to pay for crap within the game doesn't really appeal to me much. I would rather pay the $15 a month and forget about it.
Also, I have no problem with Real Money Auctions and Ebaying of in-game items provided they are gotten by players and sold by players and not "created" by the Game Developer on the fly for money.

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.

Like most things in life, I try to judge each item individually instead of lumping them all together.
