Gaheris/Mordred run on what is literally entirely different code for characters than Ywain does. Charcopy your Gaheris char over to Pendragon with some cross-realmed items that you can normally equip in your inventory. Try to equip them on Pendragon. It won't work. Changing that would take a TON of work, far more than Mythic can justify given the current state of DAOC. Likely more than they can afford, as well.

Yep that same code would prove the same problems for the battleground, but oddly enough they had planned to put it in. As for affording it that is just bogus. I mean it's owned by EA and last time I checked they weren't flirting with bankruptcy, and they are one of the few games this old and dated that still charges 15 bucks a month.

If they are charging for the game, not putting out any new content, and barely maintaining the game as it is... then why are they broke? Sounds like very low overhead and very high profit margins to me.

First Gaheris gets the equivalent of RR3 in free RA points not 4, unless they raised the max level to 60 or started handing em out at 10.

Actually it is RR4L0 worth of free points. We get 31 skill points, 30 of which are Gaheris only granted from 21-50

At 1L1 (which everyone gets at 20) you get one skill point

At 2L0 you would have 10

At 3L0 you would have 20

And at 4L0 you would have 30

Taking away the automatic 1L1 that everyone gets at 20 that works out to be 4L0 worth of skill points. We still do not get the + to skill boosts that going up realm levels grants, but those 30 free skill points are quite an edge.

Actually, the battleground would provide fewer technical challenges even if it was Gaheris and Mordred merged. Mordred already has the open PvP coding, and the character data is formatted in the same manner, with the ability to cross-realm, etc. All it would really require is a frontiers-style clustering taking place in that battleground, with the player interaction coding being implemented set to that of Mordred.

Mixing Gaheris/Mordred with ToAs/Classics/Ywain would result in an issue, but Gaheris and Mordred would be perfectly compatible with each other on a technical level.

My theory is that Mythic likely decided not to implement the proposed battleground due to player population backlash, not due to the technical challenges. Changing Ywain coding to allow them to come over to Gaheris would be an entirely different story, and immensely complicated. Not something Mythic is likely to due, since it would require investing a significant amount of money into a game with an ever declining population.

Edit: Even if they can't get to frontiers and laby, mainland dragons drop seals, so they'd be limited to ToA and SI only. Even in SI, they still couldn't do Trollheim, Avalon City (or at least Crystal Cave), or Fomor. In another case, what's to stop them from just trading for seals instead?

with the new quest lines in the BGs I would like to see all the BGs on Gaheris. I have been leveling a new toon up through the BGs on Ywain and because of the quests, the BGs are more active then they have been in awhile. It is breathing new life into Ywain, and it would here also.

I would like to see Mordred join us in the BGs.

Wow I gotta ask do you or have you ever been a programmer for daoc? Because if not you sure seem to overuse theoretical arguments...

No offense warrior but unless you are getting ready to undertake this project personally, you seem to be putting up a lot of theoretical speed bumps vs. an idea from another player. Is there some reason you hate the idea from a personal stand point you would like to share instead of imaginary technical problems? or are you just having fun pretending you know what it's like to program daoc?

I was actually one of the most Pro-Molvik members of the Gaheris community when it was announced. I also realize why they scrapped the project and never implemented it. I'd love to see Molvik, but I long ago resigned to the fact that it's not going to happen. If it did happen, then I've got 3 accts to re-up and an already geared/RR10+'d Sorc, Reaver, Paladin and Armsman ready to go from day one.
