What a niggardly gift...

I would have thought surely that someone would have made this comment somewhere, but I've yet to see it.

When my husband and daughter travelled to England last October he was shocked by two things. How friendly the British were towards them, and their fascination with our election. He felt the people he met knew more about our politics than the average American.

Europeans in general have a much better grasp of the world politics than the more actively interested US person. It's partly arrogance on our part, partly ignorance. Arrogance through our nation being (nearly) as large as Europe, and knowing that so many other nations depend on us, not the other way around. Ignorance through apathy, since we don't care enough to worry about our "neighbors" other than Mexico, which we generally dislike and would like to go away, and Canada, which is a mini-US (other than Quebec, which we treat like Mexico). The other nations don't have much that we really need, so they don't interest us.

hell, most US citizens don't really understand the different political systems for other countries, barely even understanding our own. It's sad and pathetic at the same time.

Not to beat a dead horse here, BUT WHAT THE HELL

Do you see what they gave the Queen on their trip for the G20? An IPOD...granted it was engraved or some shit BUT with a little effort they would have known that SHE ALREADY HAD ONE...

Wow, just wow

These next 4 years will be interesting to say the least, anyone want to move to Amsterdam with me?

I really don't see why a gift to the Queen matters to anyone other than the Queen. I'm willing to bet the old bag would just say, "Oh, how nice!" at just about any gift given to her, and then put it behind some glass display case. I'm not better or worse off because of it, and the only way I would be is if Obama had said, "Surprise! DNA tests proved Altra_Shadowstalker is in your bloodline. Congratulations, Queen Gramum!" Yes, the only way I would care is if Obama actually gave the Queen Mum the gift of knowing a long-lost relative was out there ready to mooch at the Crown's teat.

Then my interest would be piqued.

he could have just taken a crap on a paper plate for her and our media would have swooned over such a thoughtful, intellectual and articulate gift he had given. course if he didnt have a teleprompter at the time he might have just missed the plate part and crapped on the floor.

Yeah, his teleprompter really pisses me off. Why can't we have an intelligent president for once? When a president reads off a screen it disgraces this country in the eyes of the world. Can't you hear all his worldwide critics? North Korea obviously doesn't respect the guy, and won't pay heed to his warning speeches. Iran was looking for a change from Obama's administration, but not this kind. So he talks fluidly, for the most part, when he's behind the podium. That doesn't mean he actually KNOWS what he's talking about. That doesn't mean his policies will accurately reflect what his golden tongue espouses. It's just a ploy to get the ignorant left behind his corrupt views. If only Obama could realize this before its too late and remove the teleprompter, this country would be back on track and ready to focus on real issues in no time.

That's what I'm saying! The teleprompter is usurping Obama's power to lead this country.
