Not that I ever side with Wacko Jacko, but he was a mentally troubled person, and while there is no excuse for what he did, you have to understand why it happened. You're talking about a family, that basically since the children were old enough to remember (especially MJ) events in their life, were thrown into the spotlight. There was no childhood, no growing up, no real learning...it was gig after gig, show after show, song after song, and every waking moment was dedicated to this pursuit. There was no free time, no time to socialize with other kids their age, no exposure to the outside world except what the parents/record producers/agents/etc (note: when they were still the jackson five, they spent every waking moment together and lived in hotels) wanted you to see. This is how your entire childhood is spent. This is how your entire teenage and formative years are spent. This is how your 20s are spent and even up all the way into your 30s. The only people you know are your family, your agents, your producers, and other celebrities. There is no grounding for you, no one to help guide you throw all these steps of right and wrong that one comes across growing up in a normal life. No one to protect you from bad influences or people who are only out to milk you for every penny you're worth.
During the course of this time you release hundreds of songs, win over a dozen grammys, and you can't go anywhere without getting mobbed to death. Finally, you reach a peak where you're not so big of a star that everyone demands every single second of your life and you've amassed a fortune. For the first time, you just get to start really living your own life and discovering yourself. Only, you haven't mentally progressed as a person because of the lifestyle you were essentially forced into. Musically, you're a genius, mentally, you're essentially still a child. So he did what children would do and dream of and lived as such. I'm sure he touched those boys, but it wasn't like he lured them into bed going 'hey little boy, you want some candy?!?' he probably played with them as a child would, and had sleep overs like children would, and as young children have been known to do, they explored each others bodies.
Does it make it right? Absolutely not, but you're assuming the fact that he was just as capable as you or me it what makes this so skewed. If it were two children who were doing it, you would reprimand them and teach them personal boundaries, it's part of growing up. And sadly, that's what Michael Jackson was. A 40 year old mentally repressed child. It's sad, twisted, and I honestly feel that we are all in a way responsible for this man's condition. But we hold celebrities in a different light, treat them as Gods sometimes, and refuse to see fault in them. Kid stars get it the worst because you suck them in at such a formative time in their life and it leaves them completely and utterly mentally scared.
No money in the world is worth that. RIP Jacko
