Wow guys, really? I watched like 3-4 rift pvp videos, looks EXACTLY like WoW and WAR pvp combined. Stopped halfway through because I was so bored watching this. Zero interest :/

RIFT PvP Update:

So I just re-listened to the PvP Podcast while playing DAoC (lol).
It sounds like there will be 1) A level 50 20 man BG that will consist of PvP, PvE, Rifts, Mini-Quests, etc. It sounds large and like it may actually be fun.
2) There is a zone called "Port Scion" that will be released post-launch which they are keeping very secret. Hopefully this means it will be some sort of PvP zone.
3) At launch they will incorporate a type of Wardstone that is PvP faction-based. Attacking it will flag you, and they will be out in the open area in zones. Whichever dev it was who was being interviewed said that they hope to see this work as a huge PvP hot spot where factions go to attack/defend --especially in shared zones.
4) He explicitly stated that Rifts are meant to be used (on PvP servers primarily I assume) as an enormous PvP battle location
and finally,
5) We can, although there is little reward for it, take a raid of level 50s and raid the enemy cities. He said it can be done, but little reward will be given. Still fun to kill faction leaders, etc IMO.

I still don't know entirely what I think about it, but I wanna give it a go and see how endgame is before I give up on it. Maybe I should have lost hope in finding good PvP a long time ago, who knows.

Also, if anyone happens to take 10days back or resub, roll a Mid character and send either Nydaweth-Ywain1 or Trobbe-Ywain1. If I'm not on Mid im on hib as Rawrikeen-Ywain2 (server subject to change) or Hiberniandeffender-Ywain1

Guud. I have mixed feelings about this.

It feels like the same Warhammer and WoW bg's but the open field pvp seems more interesting. On a pvp server the rifts open up all over and I'll assume that it would allow massive battles to occur all over; however my biggest issue is... there are always SO MANY rifts that open up, it would be easy to avoid contact with enemies etc. I think they need to narrow down the numbers of open rifts in a zone, last night at The Sanctuary there was 9 total open at one time. In a heavy populated area, I had to hit 3 before I found out where 'the public group/zerg' was at.

Uruz and I hit bg 1 several times, and yes... we both were ranting at the stupidity of people. It's like War exactly for the fact that if '1' side pushes the other to their spawn... the spawners just shoot from atop the cliff and cannot come down to push back less organization is implimented, and we all know that in random bg's that does not happen. I hate bg 1 with a passion because there is no variance, it's point A to point B... meet in the middle and fight.

I hated it as a rogue because since it is so open and clustered it is hard to kill without having insta adds take you out. I changed from Rift/Rogue/blade dancer (I think....) to Marksman/Rift/Bard... and Uruz can tell you I was topping the dmg charts the entire time with the least amount of deaths because it was so easy to literally peg people off. Did that change the fun factor and repitition to me? No.

I heard bg 2 is good.

Everyone is hyping up this open pvp at the higher levels. I imagine in next phase I'll be able to accurately describe my opinions on bg 2... but for now... I wouldn't judge the game on bg 1.

The pve is.. tolerable. It's exactly like Warhammer/Aion/WoW.

*the rifts open up public quests... like War.

*A lot of point A to point B quests... kill xx amount of mobs... get this loot from these mobs etc.

I have no clue on if I will play at launch. I'm very cautious as everyone in the guild can tell because I ask a million questions and want to make sure my choices are proper instead of wasting time and money on another game like Warhammer, WoW (and all expansions including Cata-jizzm - *I hold copyrights to that name btw, AION, Conan, D&D, and the worst of all.... more overhyped then the Twilight Series.... Final Fantasy 14. I want to be sure this is a move I want... or I'll just stick to DAOC where I'm very situated.

Guud - yeah I dont think this is the next big mmo, it copies too much from everything else to really stand out. But it does pull in features of every MMO that I like, and I'm ready to mess around with something new, and I have a giftcard to Gamestop from Christmas, sooooo I'm going to play for a month or two and see how it goes.

The look and feel of the pvp seems very WAR-ish to me, which doesn't bother me much as WAR's pvp was pretty fun. It's oRVR and BG mechanics for the most part were terrible, but the actual combat was good. The thing that makes it stand out, as far as PvP is going to go, is the class system. You're going to run into a ton of random shit - healers with a bunch of CC, tanks with pets to interrupt casters, tanks with heals, casters with heals, rogues teleporting like mages in wow, ranged archers with buffs - the pvp will be interesting, especially on the small scale, because people are going to be playing tons of different builds.

Me? Right now I'm looking at Warden/Inqusitor - HoT heals w/ ranged dps + light CC. Naly is playing a Stormcaller/Dominator - a dps nuker w/ a ton of CC. Should make for a fun duo.

I enjoyed the fact that everything I've been used to was there, even if it was copied straight out of wow. They even have builtin dmg meters a-la Recount.

Uruz I don't know where I'm playing yet, reports so far are that Defiant is outnumbering Guardian 10:1 on a lot of servers... and if I can avoid playing the overpopulated side I will. There doesn't yet seem to be any server balances in place for population, which is another thing that could severely screw over PvP servers. That seems to be the case in most MMO's today, sadly. (esp WoW, Aion, WAR)

Yeah As Lexi said - while Rogues seem to be good - and I can do massive damage (Nightblad, Riftstalker, Bladedance) when it comes to bg pvp it doesnt work. Fun thing is you buy another soul .. do a few easy quests, and i had my 2nd character.. same level, points ready to spend.. So i have a Marksman / Ranger / Riftstalker - and in bg pvp this is completely owning people.

As far as open world pvp, i haven't lost to anyone yet with the rogue. One on one, it seems very viable in open world. Yesterday i was fighting a mob, char 2 level highers than me attacked. i turned, killed him/ her and turned back to kill the mob. Good stuff.

The rifts i think are somewhat fun, as they pop up all over and you get good gear from them. We won an event last night and if im part of another that wins and a big contributer ill have a piece of purple gear. Nice to be able to do that randomly through the game. It takes away from the monotany of leveling.

Really whats going to make this game is end game. As Chooch said, they took alot of good things from other games and its somewhat familiar. IF they don't have (which has been hinted they will) open pvp zones like emain etc, then the game, imo will fail. Funny how DAoC was THE game for a few years due to the pvp but nobody has copied that yet to a good extent. I'm waiting on the game that does.

If they DO put in those zones (supposedly post release) this game will, imo have it all. A little WoW, a little DAoC (the good stuff), Warhammers group quests done MUCH better, its not a must to level and a grind like it was in Warhammer.

All in all, i have high hopes, but then again, I've had high hopes before. We'll see.

My coworkers forced me to try DC Universe.... so I'm going to do that for the trial period... then I can stop asking about it. It looks too much like COH/COV for my taste.

I might just hit up Civilization a bit... and take over the world as the Germans against the evil Allied powers to take my mind off games a bit till beta restarts for Rift if DCU sucks choad.

I'll see where my opinion goes. We all have hyped up so many games before... and none have been acceptable in the long run. We still find ourselves writting on #Gawaine.

Yea, i re-activated my account. got my ment to 50, ran around a few times in PoC on the hero with spira, and in the process of leveling up a vampiir for god knows what reason. It certainly isn't the game it used to be, but I enjoy playing it more than any other recent mmo out there. Easy to pick up and put down, which is all I really have time for these days anyway

I have mixed feelings about DC Universe. I like it in a way.

Basically I'm on a PVE server... I can turn my flag on and fight, or just que up for the instances.. which is kinda fun. I love how I can only have '6' abilities up at a time... that's cool.. the graphics is neat... and yeah it's kinda like COV/COH except my attacks require mouse combo's which is kinda different.

So like.. I can hold my right clicky down... then tap my left one twice for a super burst etc.. or just hold and release for a meteor burse, or right click then left twice and then right click for a ae kick etc… then there are my 6 button abilities I can use… so it’s kinda neat.

I hate PVE but the PVE in this game is actually fun. At level 9 it opens up an Arena (pvp area) and at level 10 it opens up PVE Instances. As levels progress more instances and PVP arena’s open up for me. Not counting the open world PVP in areas where both heroes and villains quest and level up.. from Metropolis to Gotham City etc.

I’m not sure if I plan to play this game or not. I’m having more fun here than in Rift beta.. but end game, I dunno what the plan is for either. I’ll know more as time progresses.. but I hated COV/COH.. and I like this one…
