First, you don't "twitter," you "tweet." Second, it's not an IM client (even though way too many people use it as one). It's actually a microblogging platform, but if you don't get blogging, then you most assuredly won't get Twitter. The ratio of good Twitter-users to good bloggers is 1:1.
Simply put, if you don't blog, don't tweet, because no one else gives a damn.
