A couple of years ago, I made deviled eggs for my husband and instead of grabbing the paprika to sprinkle on top, I grabbed the chili powder. He actually liked them

Great mistake to make, lol. I usually make them w/ a bit of cayenne

I'm a fan of Biker Billy's deviled eggs:

We usually omit the scallion. And instead of the chipotle in adobo, I like powdered guajillo. But personally I think the cumin adds a nice, different twist.

Ooo, something to do for Thanksgiving! Thanks Grumble

In transition to a new base in Iceland, I hadn't been in my own kitchen for over a month and I really missed cooking.

We'd only been in our new base housing apartment for 2 days when I decided to make sticky rolls. It was about 11 pm when I finally put them in the oven, set the timer and went to unpack boxes in the bedroom. The topping boiled over and started burning on the bottom of the oven, filling the place with smoke.

Then the fire alarm went off, evacuating the whole building... kids and neighbors outside in pajamas.. and then the firetrucks showed up, sirens blaring and lights flashing, waking up people in the nearby buildings who came outside to see what was going on. I wanted to find a nice rock to crawl under

I ended up baking more rolls for the other people in the building, and delivering them with an apology.

My (ex)husband and I had invited 4 other couples to diner. I cooked a huge pot of beef stew. I had homemade biscuits. I cooked enough biscuits for my strawberry shortcake, which was dessert. I set the can of whipped cream out. Everything else was on the table ready to serve. Everyone was at the table and I was dishing up the stew for everyone.....and we hear about 5 seconds of *hssssssssssssssssssssss* follower by BOOM.

The can of whipped cream exploded. The top landed right in the pot of stew, splattering it everywhere. There was whipped cream and stew all over my walls, ceiling, table....and our guests.

After everyone and everything was cleaned up, we ordered pizza.

I realize now I do not fear death. I fear my daughter will not be free when I die.
