My (ex)husband and I had invited 4 other couples to diner. I cooked a huge pot of beef stew. I had homemade biscuits. I cooked enough biscuits for my strawberry shortcake, which was dessert. I set the can of whipped cream out. Everything else was on the table ready to serve. Everyone was at the table and I was dishing up the stew for everyone.....and we hear about 5 seconds of *hssssssssssssssssssssss* follower by BOOM.

The can of whipped cream exploded. The top landed right in the pot of stew, splattering it everywhere. There was whipped cream and stew all over my walls, ceiling, table....and our guests.

After everyone and everything was cleaned up, we ordered pizza.

Oh, that does remind me about making bananas foster where you light the rum. That's really to be done on a stove with a *high* hood over it. I didn't catch anything on fire. But the heat softened the plastic cover over the light bulb enough that it fell into my dish.

When I was probably 10 years old, my Mom found a recipe for pumpkin bars in a magazine and thought it would be fun to make them together. We started making them, then she got distracted and left me to finish up. Well, the flour container was empty, so I just used the smaller container that had (what I thought was) more flour in it. Fast forward about 40 minutes and the bars are not setting up in the oven, they are super runny and I don't know why. Mom asked if I put in the flour and I said yes, and pointed to the container. Yeah.. it was powdered sugar.

Recently, I bought some silicone bakeware. I made a batch of muffins using the muffin pan. Timer beeps, I go to pull the pan out of the oven thinking "oh it's rubber, it shouldn't be that hot." FYI.. silicone gets damn hot. My husband laughed at me for being so dumb. Yet a couple weeks later, he made a pan of cinnamon rolls and did the same exact thing!

At the tender age of 21, made my first turkey for my first husband and family and left the giblets in. I guess that's pretty common with new cooks, though.

A couple of years ago, I made deviled eggs for my husband and instead of grabbing the paprika to sprinkle on top, I grabbed the chili powder. He actually liked them

Every once in awhile I end up scrapping a batch of pie crust because for some reason I forget to add the salt. It's some kind of a mental block...

Well, I wanted to make this bbq sauce that starts with you boiling down a liter of coca-cola.

So I set my timer to 10 minutes, forgot to turn it on , and played EQ2.

Fortunately I didn't set off the fire alarms. Took the mess outside and let it cool off

on the porch.

I'm a fan of Biker Billy's deviled eggs:

We usually omit the scallion. And instead of the chipotle in adobo, I like powdered guajillo. But personally I think the cumin adds a nice, different twist.

I have been thinking really hard on this one. I am lucky I had my mom and my mom in law who helped me out a lot when I was younger cooking. But I remember one oops that if Grandpa Fran was still alive he wouldn't let me live down.

It was the fourth of July family picnic. I was to make German Potato salad like my mom in law taught me.. she was counting on me to do it. No problem I had made it several times before from her recipe. German potato salad to her is warm and vinegary. The salad part I did just fine but to heat it up and take it to the picnic I had to be inventive. I put it in a wooden bowl over night and thought that fits perfectly in microwave, wont break if dropped, looks good on table. lol She was so mad at me after we tried it. The vinegar soaked up the wood and the entire bowl of salad tasted like wooden bowl. It had no other real flavor. Grandpa Fran was just rolling laughing. He really didnt like the stuff so it was great for him he didnt have to eat it.
