Wonder if you know my sister or cousin. They're both going to UCF right now.

Not sure... I keep a pretty low profile at the university. I only take a few classes because work full time. So that kind of restricts my time.

Cool. I was born here and lived in Altamonte growing up. Last time I drove through Winter Springs, I didn't even recognize the place. The only thing that looked the same was Hacienda Village.

Yeah it does change pretty fast. I actually like Winter Park myself.

Yeah, Winter Park is really nice, but a tad pricey. I've been looking west of downtown Orlando and thinking of moving from the Universal area. I like this side of town, though. Much less traffic.

My dad lived in Winter Park behind the Publix in a complex there for 10 years. Was a nice town.

I'm partial to the Oviedo/Chuluota area, though.

The hubby and I are planning a vacation this year to the Tampa area. We hope to go out fishing on a charter boat one of the days. I have to do some more looking into it yet. Than we plan on heading over to Cape Canaveral. We didn't plan on doing any of the parks in Orlando but I would be open to checking out any good restaurants in the area, especially good seafood. We both love seafood but live in Iowa so it's a real treat for us to get the fresh stuff.

If you like rock shrimp or have never had them, I highly recommend Dixie Crossroads. Very family friendly place with the freshest seafood around.Titusville isn't too far from the Cape, either.

If you like Italian food, there's a great place on Cocoa Beach called The Italian Courtyard. Really good food and a nice atmosphere.

If you want to grab a beer, eat a sandwich and watch the ships come in the port, try Fishlips or Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar.

Unless you want a great steak, don't bother with Orlando if you're not into the parks. Seriously.

Thank you for the tips Griffin and Lynea. I will have to check out the links when I get home.

I think we will be skipping Orlando because as you said, we are not into parks and we can definitely get great steaks here in Iowa so we don't need to travel for that. LOL. I can't wait to hit the road. On fortunately that will be the end of May the first of June so for now, we can only dream and plan.

Thanks again for the great tips.

Lady, go to Ybor. You can get some awesome Cuban food without having to go to Miami.
