man i've been here since page 1
and i'm starting to feel like some sort of squatter
actually this is much healthier (mentally) than AC. hmm makes me want to go find a good book

Part XIX - Spineless, Utterly Spineless.
"I don't want to go home yet."

"But...we're HERE."
And we were. Right in front of her mailbox. 30 feet to freedom. If I was smart, I would have just opened the door, pushed her out, and drove off, then she would have been obligated to slither the remaining 22 feet herself (yeah, I would have pushed HARD.)
I turned off the car.
My hand was on my door latch. But for some reason, I couldn't open it. I believe I was experiencing the pre-tremors of an Emily Moment, which created an electromagnetic anomaly in my nerve endings, suffocating the axons and impeding the transfer of impulses across the synapses.
"Do you know where my high school is?"
Ruh roh. The reason she asked that question is because I actually went to an early-admittence academy in a neighboring town, so I was only really home for the summer at the time. This was good because I wouldn't run the risk of running into Emily in the halls the following school year. However, I didn't like where her question was heading. There was a kind of Wellesian freakishness about it.
"Umm, yes?"
I should have lied. But hindsight is always 20/20.
"Can you show me where it is?"
"..."
It was the end of July, if my memory serves me right. Now I'm pretty convinced that if I didn't show her where Washerson Kennedy High School was, SOMEONE would. But when passing judgement, I would refer the reader to the disclaimer that precedes Part I.
I started the car.

This is the best story I have read in a long time. "Bow, Chicka, Wow, Wow!" I am going to use that one. Hope to hear more before I go home from work.
