Part XXIII - This Part Was Really Boring.
Arms linked *crack of whip*, we proceeded to the car. I hadn't mentioned to her that I needed to go help my older sister get her senior paper for Business Management 412 off her ailing harddrive, but perhaps I should have. That might have prevented Emily from saying, as we approached the car,
"So where to now?"
Now, you and I both know that the answer she was looking for wasn't "

ou to your house, me to mine." But realize that I was living this *IN* the moment, and lacked the incomparable wisdom of hindsight. I didn't know that the title of this story involved headbutts, or else I might have acted differently. Like forgetting to let her in the car before I drove off or something.
"Umm, I have an idea."
Laugh all you want, I couldn't think of anything better. I was REALLY tired, and this place had good seating.
My old elementary school playground.
We pulled into the back parking lot and started to circle the school, chatting as we went. It was this point in the evening when I really came to a recognition of the fact that Emily was just plain terrible at making conversation. All questions got short answers, very few questions back, kind of like when your dentist talks to you. Now that I mention it, the whole experience was not unlike having teeth pulled.
We managed to circle the school, probably taking a whole 20 minutes. Then she went and sat down on the swings. I think she wanted me to push her, but it's probably a good thing I didn't. A man can be surprised by his own strength sometimes.
Oh CRIPES this was boring...I had finally had enough.
"Well, let's go."
I think she must have been really bored, too, because she didn't protest. So I drove her home.
WHAT???
Yes, you read that right. I drove her home.
