I think engadget has been taken over by apple heh.

They did much needed fixes to camera and added a dual core basically. On OS side they added in many android current features and some new ones that could be interesting. Overall I fail to see hype.

I was interested in the announcement because I was open to the possibility of switching from Android to iPhone (though I certainly wouldn't decide anything until after Google's ICS announcement next week).

I was expecting Apple to announce two devices today, an iPhone 4S with the same iPhone 4 look, but with updated internals and we got that. Was also expecting an iPhone 5 with a new design, larger 4 inch display and LTE or at least HSPA+ 21Mbps. An iPhone with a 4 inch display and LTE might have been something I would have considered buying.

We saw so many leaks of case accessories that were clearly designed for a larger and thinner phone. Not sure if all these were faked or this device does exist. But if they have the cases ready now, then you'd think the device would be almost ready to launch. But if Apple didn't announce it today, then I highly doubt an iPhone 5 is launching this year. So I guess all those case accessories must have been faked.

Anyway, I think Apple fans should be really impressed with the iPhone 4S. It does look very impressive.

Guess Apple fans are sad by no iPhone 5 announcement too.

I see why Steve Jobs retired from being CEO now.

Looking around at various websites and forums, including Apple fan sites, it seems the reaction is universally "disappointed". Can you believe the iPhone 4 launched almost a year and a half ago (June 2010). So while this is a nice upgrade to the product line, everyone was expecting even more.

Wallstreet not impressed either as Apple stock drops 5% on the announcement.

Regarding Siri and it's ability to recognized natural speech. Some bloggers mentioned that the demonstrator was speaking slowly like to a child, and not really natural. I talk fast normally, so I might have a problem slowing down.

We are getting the story behind one of the leaked iPhone 5 cases. Hard Shell's CEO tells use why it made prototypes of it's iPhone 5 cases...

Quote:

Talking to CNET as the event was unfolding, Hickman revealed that he had decided to make the mold for the new cases just two weeks ago based on different sources of information, including some manufacturers in China. While some of the sources were generally reliable, none were official.

"Finally we had to make the decision based on an educated guess. Apple has created a system in which only top players know their secrets, putting the rest in a very disadvantaged situation.

I was expecting a iphone 5 and iphone 4s with the iphone 5
having a 4inch+ screen, new design, updated retna 2.0 screen and NFC
and iphone 4s 3.5 inch screen with just hardware updates.

Must
say I'm underwhelmed for something that took so long to come to market.
I'm sure it will be polished like most apple products, I guess they put
this phone off so long to ramp up production to keep up with demand??

Thats a new ios5 feature, so older iphones, ipads, and ipods get wireless sync too.
