He didn't write them. Even the pundits who have been trying to attack him on every issue for years admit he did not write them. He wasn't even the editor of the newsletter.
See this is why Ron Paul supporters crack me up. If Obama makes a speech and says something dumb and then someone says "oh it doesn't matter because he didn't write the speech and didn't read it until he...well...read it" everyone would laugh. But that is basically the argument they are earnestly making.
The guy put his name on it. I don't think anyone is really arguing it shows he espouses those views themselves. The point is it reflects poorly on him that he let his name be put on a publication like that.
It isn't the end of the world or anything. But Ron Paul supporters are so convinced their dude is the perfect messiah that even the smallest attack sends them into paroxysms of butthurt.
Fine then, show me a speech that Ron Paul said something dumb in instead of something someone else said. If not then STFU NOOB!

Pretty much everything Ron Paul says is dumb. Even when he's right he usually manages to dumb it up.
But that's neither here nor there.

I don't watch stupid tv news so I haven't seen anything about it. It has legs here on the Outpost because the Ron Paul zombies here keep making fools of themselves instead of just admitting it reflects badly on his judgment and moving on.
Well it is kinda in a response to the TV news. And it wasn't even really about the letters at all (at least my thread wasn't) but it was about CNN's obvious bias editing of the portrayal of the interview
How the publications became a huge issue I think is when people fell into the same original trap about it that happened weeks ago and is already a dead issue
I honestly don't know much about the letters other than:
They were racist/homophobic and posted in his publication
He didn't write them, nor was he the editor
It was printed while he was practicing medicine
It was over 20 years ago
He doesn't agree/support the views at all and disavows them

His fault was letting people like Lew Rockwell and other old school texans manage the editing of the letters.
Didn't members of his own family own the company that published the letters?

The problem with the newsletter stuff is that he does attract and inflame crazy extremists. I don't even know why that's an argument. The centerpiece to nearly every one of his national campaigns has had revolution undertones.
Nearly all of his supporters have some degree of hero worship. They ignore a lot of what he says, because they have so much confidence in the underpinnings of his ideals. But a lot of what he says is either stupid or crazy.
Because of these two facts the newsletters get a lot of play. It's the very fact his supporters are so irrational about things like the newsletters that keeps things like the newsletters from going away.

How do you put your name on something you don't even read? It came out once a month ffs. Is this the politics we should come to expect under a Paul administration? Watch my propaganda but don't pester me with the content?
Heres a simple solution: take your name off it when you're no longer involved!

I've been told not to talk, but these stooges don't scare me. Threats or no threats, I've laid bare the coming race war in our big cities. The federal-homosexual cover-up on AIDS (my training as a physician helps me see through this one.) The Bonemian Grove--perverted, pagan playground of the powerful. Skull & Bones: the demonic fraternity that includes George Bush and leftist Senator John Kerry, Congress's Mr. New Money. The Israeli lobby, which plays Congress like a cheap harmonica. And the Soviet-style "smartcard" the Justice Department has in mind for you.
This guy is a moonbat. Between this and his racist noob newsletters I finally get why the GOP doesn't want this guy as their nominee.
What I don't understand is HOW this guy has been in Congress this long? How gerrymandered must Texas be that this guy keeps his seat like forever? He makes Michelle Bachmann look sane.
I don't think too highly of Ron Paul, but how can you be so gullible as to think he wrote that ?

consider the alternatives.
Ron Paul is still like the only politician that at least seems trustworthy.. crazy or not, the guy doesn't flip flop, tells it like it is, and still has my vote even if I have to write his name in
