To me its subjective, but to a point. It cant be 100% subjective because it wouldn't coincide with law at all as the question your asking states. Everyone would be able to do their own thing and just say I believe it to be ok and what could we do about it? Its not an absolute unless we have some sort of general rules or guidelines to base that morality off of.
For me, that groundwork for morality would be the Bible.

I would prefer that marijuana was regulated like alcohol rather than as quasi medicine as now, medicine gives some rights and protections that recreational users shouldn't have.

Society needs organization, but that organization should leave as much room for individuals to be themselves as possible or the law will not work and will end up causing more problems than it solves.
Marijuana prohibition is a great example of this.
Religious based morality is fine on an individual level, but it is terrible on an institutional level because it leaves no room for individuals to find their own way, and almost always causes the abuse of certain segments of the population.
