She was certainly an unmitigated disaster of a choice. Things were pretty even at the time too, but Obama may have been inevitable because of dissatisfaction over Bush.

I think it is hilarious that Obama had to choose a VP that specifically mitigated his flaws and McCain chose a VP in an attempt to play to Obama's flaws.

No, because Obama was, and still is, the more conservative candidate. There were quite a few die hard republicans I know that voted for Obama because they did not want McCain. The talk this cycle is the same. A Romney nomination will result in votes for Obama.
This is one difference I notice between republicans and democrats. Democrats will generally vote for the democrat even if they don't like him. Around here repulicans will vote for the democrat just to piss off the republicans.
They only way I will vote Obama is if Santorum is nominated, otherwise I will write-in again.

I voted for McCain last election despite Palin and I'd do so again. Obama just looked that bad and unfortunately was in actuality even worse than he looked.

McCain - Obama , whats the difference. We would have gotten the same results only the left would be bitching about the pres and the right would be defending.

No. Palin was one of several Hail Mary plays made by the McCain campaign. They knew better than anyone that the numbers didn't add up in their favor, and McCain always fancied himself a bit of a rogue on the campaign trail, so he was all about taking big risks when he was behind.

McCain stepped on his Richard a few times misspeaking.
Without Palin it would have been very close but I think Obama would have still squeaked out a win.

Compared to the Black messiah, John McCain had the charisma of a toothbrush.

I realize that his yellow smile is probably due to his POW status, but a toothbrush sure seemed like it would have added to his charisma.
