I have no problem with either of those.
But I'd like us to pursue alternative energy sources as well.

Those crazy conservatives also want to build infrastructure so the USA can get oil from a friendly northern neighbour who will use their earnings to buy american imports.
The USA is a net fuel exporter. So such infrastructure may be excessive!

We're importing 8-9 million barrels per day more than we are exporting. It's about a 4-1 ratio of imports to exports.

With a starting price of $39,145 the Chevy Volt accounted for $302,352,465 in sales, minimum.
What a horrible failure.
The truth is, GM has been doing pretty well. Thus, all the conservatwat denial of reality threads.

Uh, crude =\= fuel. Look further down on your chart and you'll see Scarne is right.

Semantics. The infrastructure he was referring to was for moving crude oil, not gasoline.

Conservatives want America in the worst economic shape it can be so they can be really really angry at Obama
Their commitment to shipping cash to the middle east is harder to understand, especially when that is typically where they like to vent their angst. Ironically, this conservative quality is likely to bring us to another war in the middle east eventually, at which point sales of the volt with go through the roof with the gas prices.
Uh, conservatives wanted to "drill baby, drill" remember? Like as in...get more domestic oil.
So your idea for energy independence is to rely on domestic oil...
Most people have no reason to be against energy independence. The ones who have a reason do dislike the idea are the Exxons and Cheverons of the world, invested deeply in oil financially. Oil to them is just cash they don't have yet, they feed off our addiction. Alternative fuels that don't transfer American wealth to the middle east is good for all of us, unfortunately the right has some of you convinced otherwise.
