Yeah, getting someone with real world experience is so much worse than, say, appointing a housewife to the Supreme Court.

This situation is going to get worse before it gets better. It wasn't until about 20 years ago that wall street started snapping up virtually ALL the top ivy league grads.
In 10-15 years it is going to be hard to find a top ivy league grad who HASN'T worked for wall street at some point.
Now maybe top ivy league grads are overrated but I don't think their dominance of the political/bereaucratic establishment is changing any time soon.

Nope. It wont change. The american establishment is coming to look like the English establishment, where you had better have an OxBridge education or you aren't going anywhere.
Want change? Burn the Ivy league to the ground.

Other colleges are still respected and there is still plenty of oppotunity to distinguish yourself after college.
The problem is not the dominance of the Ivy Leagues in business but the dominance of Wall Street in getting talent instead of seeing it go other places.
