just about every major power eventually fractures and splits into separate places....history has shown us that the US will be no different....all the civil war did was delay the inevitable

The Civil War was the first sign that the Federal Government had ambitions of Empire. But if one looks at the number of nations that exist now to the number that existed just 60 years ago, one sees the trend of global balkinization.

the first stage was the independence of colonies from the empires, the next stage Is the breakup of these colonies from the arbitrary borders drawn by foreigners.

the federal govt is not an entity that has ambitions or emotions or thoughts of any kind....it simply emulates the people pulling the strings at the time

The problem was what to do about the west. If the south could have seceeded and disclaimed any claim to the west it could have happened. It would have been a cowardly thing to do to all the slaves but the U.S. government obviously has a long history of being cowardly about defending people it claims to protect.

Isn't the Civil War evidence of America's long history of freeing the oppressed?

No. As you yourself said the war wasn't fought to free the slaves.

Lincoln was gung-ho to get all the black people in the country to leave and go live in a colony somewhere in the tropics.

The war is ultimately about what the Decleration of Independence and trying to live up to it.

Lincoln may have wanted them to move out but those kinds of movements have been lead by black people as well. They have failed for obvious reasons.

If the union had not been preserved, we would all be speaking German now.

When Lincoln tried to pitch his "let's get rid of all the black people" idea to black leaders they told him he was a moron. They were not in favor.

Incidentally, it wasn't just Lincoln. The "let's get all the black people to leave" idea was widely shared in the north. Even among some abolitionists.

The war was fought for political and economic reasons, not for human rights reasons.

There was actually a "succesful" movement to move back to Africa which in the end resulted in a bunch of people taking a short vacation to Africa and then coming back.

Lincoln was very clear in his belief about the Decleration being the basis of his position. The war was waged over that position.
