I don't understand why the "legalize it" crowd is still arguing about smoking the stuff, talk about a dead end no-win approach to the argument. As was mentioned above - pot brownies and of course other foods are the way to go.
Which of course is irrelevant.
Unless of course you think it should be legal to eat but illegal to smoke. Which is probably the worst idea I've ever heard. Talk about splitting the baby in half.

I don't smoke cigarettes pretty much ever. I think they're a nasty habit with zero benefit at all.
I wonder what the effect is on a bong? And who actually wastes weed smoking a joint these days?

Smoking one cigarette a week wont hurt you either. If you smoke 60 joints a day then you have a valid comparison. Or 60 joints for you and ypur roommate smokes another 60 a day.. Then youre comparing yourself to the typical smoker (plus 2nd hand).
People in asia and the mideast smoke them one after another, they probably get up to 100+ cigarettes a day.

Your typical smokers smokes more like 20 - 30 cigarettes a day - that's a pack\ a pack and a half a day.
60 smokes is 3 packs a day. I can count the number of people I've met in my life that smoke that heavily on one hand.

Well maybe they smoke less now.. Back in the 90s when i was a smoker, id smoke 2 packs a day. It was a dollar or so a pack back then, it would be harder to afford these days. I guess a 20 pack carton is a about $100? (thats nuts)
And last time i travelled, i saw people smoking them non stop.. In asia/mideast, they cost 25 cents a pack.

I can't speak to Asia.
There are 10 packs of cigarettes in a carton. 20 in each pack. A carton costs me roughly $40 and I live in probably the cheapest state of all to get them. You'd have to poll the OP as to what it's like now. When I left Taxachussets a decade ago, they were $50 a carton. They are like $7 a pack in Maryland.
I can buy that times have changed. Another thing to consider beyond the cost is the time involved now as well. Smoking a cigarette is a PITA - trying to find time to do that 60 times in a day and lead any kind of 'normal' life would be extremely difficult. Not many employers will let you get away with taking a smoke break every 15 minutes - which is the pace you would need to maintain to smoke 3 packs in a day.

Its been so long, i havent touched a cigarette in over 15 years..
Anyway, one joint vs 1 cigarate, probably a negligible difference.

I've talked to someone who lives in Canada who pays around $9/pack (not sure if that was in canadian or USD). No idea how much they cost where I live
