The war is hell argument works for me. I'm not down with blaming anyone else-even the enemy.
Although, my memory is dim. I believe when I went AWOL, I was given an Article 15 (non-judicial punishment). I was given 30 days hard labor, which translated to staying in my barracks, and picking up cigarette butts. I was only AWOL for about a week. I will repeat for the nth time: I received an honorable discharge.

War is hell but its best to try to restrain yourself from doing stuff like abusing the bodies after the enemies are dead if you want to win the hearts and minds of the people like the US is trying to do in Afghanistan.
Acts like that even if they pale in comparison to what the enemy does is horrible PR for the US over there.
Best for the US to just try to get the hell out of there ASAP

Disrespecting the body of another human being from whom you've taken a one and only life is immature at best.
Then again, given the intelligence standards of u.s. military recruitment these days, what can you expect from the dimmest of american intellect?

Every military in history had grunts doing the fighting. The US military is by far the most superior to any in the world today. Even the grunts should know better than this. Bad move and all caught on vid for our lovely brown brothers to get up and scream for our heads.
