War isn't dignified.
It is men marching off to their deaths at the command of men who stand to gain at their expense.
We are animals. No matter what ideas you might like to hide behind we all do ugly things.

Rationalizing it doesn't change anything. We are supposed to be fighting for a just cause.
Those men disgraced their uniforms while representing this country.
Most soldiers would probably agree.

In reality, the worst is rarely caught on film... So this might be a regular activity. Im sure rape is common as well. It was happening a lot in iraq.
If you consider how often people are raped under friendly circumstances (date rape) and in non war zones.. The incidence of rape by americans to afghani men, women and children is probably high and mot reported; it was quite common in vietnam.
So these people saying peeing on dead bodies is no big deal might be right... They probably know what kinds of atrocities are really going on and the rest of us are so naive that we think this is bad.

The men acted like idiots - but I don't understand the outrage that sometimes men act like idiots in war. It's like people are discovering for the first time that war leads to idiotic actions. What the men did was wrong, and they need to answer for it; however, people need to chill on the frothing outrage. 
The outrage is what will generate their answering for it. Otherwise this sort of thing gets brushed under the rug, or outright covered up.

Kjarhall, the punishment should fit the crime... Court Martial, or even one general said this could be considered a war crime is way over the top, article 15 loss of rank, confinement is plenty of punishment and gives them the opertunity to get help and atone.

I agree, but is irrelevant to what i said. There still needs to be some outrage in order for episodes like this to stay in the light of day, instead of being non-existant and unpunished.

I think it is wrong what they did.. but I agree that the press is making a bigger deal out of it then it is. Properly punish the soldiers sure, but war is hell. Pissing on dead bodies is no where near as bad as some of the things that have been done to our soldiers.
