Yeah, expecting a politician to actually vote on things is clearly too much to expect when there's another election coming up in a year or so, which they have no hope of actually winning...

Some people are just looking to not like stuff.

I think I might be getting a promotion in a year or so. I will just stop doing all my work to lobby my boss for my promotion 24/7. If you complain you are just looking for things to dislike.

I don't think it's too much to expect politicians to actually vote on major legislation. I don't expect him to be there every time they decide to vote on whether we should rename January 19th National Toilet Cleanser Day but for important stuff politicians should be doing their electoral duty not off in Iowa.

So you now have to resort to an analogy that would give paul a run for his money for how stupid it is.

Keep it up. High quality posting going on in here.

It's not a huge deal, but it is an insight into his character. It's pretty hard to play yourself off as the principled politician when you choose to grandstand against the government paying its bills instead of grandstanding when the money was apportioned and the President received unprecedented powers in dealing with detainees.

Actually I thought when I was typing it it sounded like something Paul might say.

But it's still stupid we excuse our politicians from doing anything for 1.5+ years before any election. Expecting people to be there for important votes is not too much to expect.

We could also just set up a system for absentee voting for situations like these.

There are things worth caring about and there are things that just don't matter. People tend to focus on the BS that doesn't matter.

This is one of those cases. When a legislator comes back to vote or not while on the campaign trail is definitely on the "who gives a flying frack" list unless their vote would be meaningful.

Seriously? That's your huge character insight? That a fiscal conservative would detour to vote on the single biggest fiscal issue of our time but not the NDAA?
