My best friend called me "Bud" in a text message the other day. It was the most impersonal condescending thing I've heard in a long time.

I use 'boss' when I want to appear subservient. When I feel like were equals, they get a 'bro' or 'brother'. When I'm feeling cocky or am superior, it's a 'son'.

chief doesnt sound condescending at all.
if you got butthurt over that, i'd start calling you pussy or bitch and see how much more you like that instead.
btw indians mostly do sir. if you ever got an email from one, then this is how it would go:
"HELLO SIR. I AM FROM INDIA. SIR.. SIR. SIR." ad infinitium.
I get called boss by pakistani/afghan gas station clerks.

Being called a pussy or a bitch doesn't do anything to me. I'd laugh at you and say you're mad.
Being called chief is condescending. I find it sounds condescending when I say it for christ sake.

I used to call my brother homey or homeboy and my parents would get mad and say 'dont say that'
After maybe a hundred 'dont say thats', i asked what are you guys talking about? And i came to learn my parents thought i was calling my brother a homo. Language problem.
