Society nowadays seem to be a little more cool with chicks dating each other than men dating each other.

Straight men have always been quite ok with lesbians dating each other (especially if they got video footage to go with it) than with men dating each other. Gay men are catching up though, minus the video footage stuff

It's more accepted especially if they are hot.

Generally speaking, yes.
I think gender identity moreso than sexual orientation is the line where acceptance/misfit truly happens.
