Well I am not sure where or even how to find out where they come from. I thought the teacher choose their syllabus for the year. I've had some great teachers and believe it or not both of my kids had some of the very same ones which kind of freaked me out a little bit.
Again I have faith in our teachers.
Keep in mind this is MA and most politicians here are liberal democrats.
The curriculum and syllabus my wife uses are provided to her by the school district and are established by a single person who has exactly zero teaching experience or credentials.
They've gone so far as to actually script her interactions with students.

USA was last western country to abolish slavery...It took you guys till 1870 to abolish slavery in all parts of your country and it took you guys till 60s to stop treating Blacks like slaves.
Did you know, to this date black WW2 vets havent been given same care and benefits as white war vets were?

We're also a very young country. How old was your country when they did?
Had to look it up. Finland was part of Sweden until the 1800s. Sweden abolished it in the 1300s. Sweden has been around forever it seems.

What does that have to do with it?
The "we're a big country" is usually a dumb argument but at least it has some shred of logic to it.
If anything, being a new country should have made it easier for America to abolish slavery because there wasn't a traditional political power structure holding things back holding things back.
There are no excuses for early America's profound moral failure on slavery.

Well, Test comes from the country that was potential slaves, not slavers.
So they probably thought outlawing it would keep the Swedes and the Russians from rounding them up....as if!

It is one of the primary flaws with the "good old days" vision of early America.
Early America was a deeply immoral placce run mostly by rich people, most of whom thought nothing of enslaving poor people for profit.
What opposition to slavery there was in early America mostly came from Northerners who didn't like the competitive advantage it gave to the south, not from people concerned about morality.
It says a lot about our country in its early years that less than 15% of the population had any moral problem with enslaving millions of black people.
