Perhaps the next civil rights will be crazy people. The liberals are running out of people to march for. Getting a new group on board will be a big boon to their election chances. I keep waiting for the court ruling that gives minorties the right to vote twice; to make up for not being able to vote 50 years ago.

I've never really been able to wrap my mind around psychiatry. I know at a basic level our decisions and choices are hard coded responses to certain events, but I still FEEL like everyone can choose to do the smart thing. Intellectually I know it's not true and failing to do the best thing or think the best thing consistently is just as much a sickness as cells not dividing right or whatever, but my gut reaction is to always think people are wusses.
I think that a lot of them are though, so that's probably why.

This is my belief too. A nice percentage of the medicated just need to grow a pair. Not all, Not most, but A Lot just got away with crap all their lives and that led them to a weird place. Add medication and yep you get a messed up human. Begin at an early age and good luck. Everyone praises genetic information, but environment and behaviorism are still in the mix. Trained medi-caterers are cheaper, quicker, and pushers of samples. That too is fine for a large percentage of the people, but certainly not all.

I agree that we as a society are over medicated. Every other person at my job is taking Xanax. It boggles my mind. I think that a lot of issues can be treated by taking care of ourselves physically. So many people do not workout or choose to partake in healthy activities that will improve their minds/weight/health/etc.
However, I do believe that there are people who have chemical imbalances that do need medication. But I bet some of that could also be reduced if they adhered to a lifestyle change too (if they hadn't already.)
