WTF? Ridiculous no? Kills the method of beating a game and e-baying that copy for 60-80% of purchase price. It was better than only getting 5-15% from GameStop/other stores.

Most Game Developers will agree that the Used Games market is significantly impacting the revenue we receive. I think what most consumers don’t realize is that every time they buy a used game, there is ZERO money making it back to the Game Developers. All of those profits are going directly to the re-seller and making it more and more difficult for us to continue making higher quality products.

reselling used games is piracy

stop stealing

I can't say Ive ever seen a game case that states your license to use the game is not transferable. And since you can;t return the game after its been opened, the license would indeed be transferable.

my 2 cents

ever seen a music cd or hollywood DVD that said that either?

does it matter if you pay someone 5 bucks for their copy or download it off the internet?

yep, it does

you are purchasing their license to own the movie or game.

they are giving up their right to the movie or game

they only have 1 license

if they let 1 person download their copy, then delete their own, I would consider that legal.

Yes. In one case your transferring ownership and in the other you're copying and both parties get "ownership."

Well, if they would stop overcharging for games that only last maybe 6-8 hours or so, then maybe I wouldn't be tempted to buy used games from Gamestop and the like.

Lately I've been buying games off Steam when they have sales on them, and have spent maybe $600 or so in the last year on it. I still have yet to play over half of the game I bought (hard to say no when a game is on sale for $20 when it's $50 normally). And I like that Steam keeps track of my games so if I need to download them again I can do it without hassle.
