The whole idea of human shields was ignored by everyone during World War II. Every country specifically targetted civilian populations to lower morale. In fact, most of the deaths from the war were civilians.
Most of those facts get glossed over now, but it was total war on all sides.
People who like to QQ about Hiroshima try to ignore this.
If Japan had gotten the bomb, LA would have been nuked.
If the Russians had gotten it before 1945, Berlin would have been turned into radioactive rubble.
Ditto the Brits.
If Hitler got it, everything would have been nuked.
If Croatia had it, they would have accidentally nuked themselves.

True. But sorta a non sequitor.
I'm also not really sure all of them would have used it on an already beaten enemy.
Using an atomic bomb wasn't any worse than other things that happaned in WWII. What was worse was the timing of it. It was pretty much pointless from a military point of view and was all about political calculation.

It was completely sarcastic RC and meant as a trap for the current American mindset about civilian casualties. I had said before, rational people should see the results of war and throw away their guns. Nothing our nation's leader's job's entail should involve murdering innocent people with the military. At some point I'd have pointed it out we're so brave we now use unmanned weapons platforms and illegally assassinate people and kill innocent people while doing it. Fking Pakistan has been crying about it since 08. We fly these things into their country and drop missiles that kill innocent civilians... And most of the responders to my OP think that the fact there is a "BAD GUY" within a group of innocent people makes it ok to fire away.

I don't know for sure but I suspect they also hid among civilians when the British came to try to round them up.

I have always thought it is a testament to something (not sure what) in the Japanese people that they did not become a nation filled with terrorists after the nukes.
