I think id rather hit my kids than give them mood altering drugs.

Some parents can control themselves when spanking their kids and its probably useful. Other parents go out of control and do it when angry and do it way too often. For this reason I dont know if spanking is really good parenting. I know it harmed me growing up.

So youd rather medicate your kids?

Im watching "medicated child" on netflix and am thinking about the kind of choice id make. Generally i dont even take drigs (cough med, tylenol, anything) even when a dr prescribes them for me.

Some parents tell their pediatrician the kid is acting out, either they are referred to a psychiatrist to get drugs long term or the pediatrician prescribes drugs.

Medicating your kids is just as bad or worse. I think that hitting your kids or medicating them to get them to behave is the approach used by lazy, stupid parents who dont really know how to raise kids

I watched that SUper Nanny show and most of the time she can get the kids to behave without hitting them, verbally abusing them, or medicating them. She is smart and knows how to raise kids.

How about C....don't let your kids be stupid pricks on or off drugs.

You know, if you really make them believe that you will kill them before you let them make asses of themselves....they tend not to be total idiots.

Ive never seen those drugs work - even with adults. Every person i know on anti depressants seems f'd up in some way.

Its possible there are some on them and they seem so great that as far as i know theyre not medicated..so im not ruling it out for all people.

I just know in my experience - if you see a Dr - 99 times out of a 100 the solution youre given is a prescription for drugs. I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder and asthma until i found a dr that figured out i had an allergy to certain foods. Ive cut out the foods and my life has changed. Im glad i never bought the simple diagnosis from most doctors i saw and refused their drugs. That may have quieted my allergy symptoms but they wouldve come at a cost to my health and pocketbook.

Back when antibiotics were introduced people used to take them for everything including tons of stuff that antibiotics couldn't actually treat. The fact that antibiotics were over prescribed and incorrectly prescribed doesn't mean that they aren't wildly effective for treating some things.

Some kids actually need medication. Their lives are much better because of it.
