Paris is not that great a place for french food. Crepes are Breton but in general the food capital of france is Lyon, not Paris.

I ran into the same thing in Nice, with Crepes and various other food. The seafood in Nice was solid, though.
I haven't been to Lyon.
I've got a good bud who is a trained chef. He's the expert I rely on. He and I have planned that when our kids are a couple years older, we're headed on a family food tour of Europe. I'm already earmarking the money for it. Mmmmmm mmmm.

best crepes i've had were in athens. i'm headed to italy next month. i don't remember them having much street food aside from paninis, which are kinda weak but good enough in a pinch. and gelato of course.

Things are so globalized and people transplant so much these days though, it is hard to tell.
One of the Top 5 bar-b-q meals I have ever had (and I've had a LOT) was in... Massachusetts.

Yeah I'm not saying there are no good crepe joints in Nice but it's not exactly where you would go hoping to just walk in off the street and find one.
I'm sure there's good BBQ in Minnesota too. Somewhere. Maybe.

True. That's why next trip I'm gonna take my expert. He's already got a laundry list of places to try. And he's not snobby. He'll probably go a little Anthony Bourdain on my ass.

i figure if its good enough for the locals to eat it good enough for me
in south east asia they dont have any food regulations so you know the food is safe. the place would go out of business if it sold bad food
oh another awesome type of street food: banana pancakes in Thailand or Indonesia. very different from each other but both awesome
