I dont believe people are animals. What you describe is an animal. Humans are way more than that. We have way more to us than just that.

On this planet humanity is unique.
So you think there are other humans out there? I would say we are unique here. We're way above animals. Although it could be said that we share some of the same characteristics. I still think we are far beyond what evolution says we are.

Humans are a very advanced animal but that still makes us an animal, some of us chooses not to act like animals. However put enough people in a situation where you have an exit at one end and approaching death at the other and witness blind panic and survival, a few will be able to think and act rationally and will help others but the majority will be doing a blind stampede trampling people underfoot to survive.
It's our prerogative to survive, we're built for fight or flight.. If humans spends to much time under a situation where those built in defensive mechanisms are on a low boil we become sick, this is where stress comes from it's a natural human reaction.
Just live with it Mascara you're just a advanced version of a monkey, you have to 96% the same genes as a chimpanzee.

But just that 4% makes us a different creature entirely. If you changed 1% of human DNA you just might make something completely different.

Well yeah basically, it's the crucial 4% which lets us use speech and cognitive reasoning, all our didactic prowess, walk upright etc.
It's also very clear that we share a common ancestry and that we're still when push comes to shove animals, this explains our irrational behavior, violence etc etc.

Allstar , please try and restate this question another way, so i might better understand it.
I don't really know how to.
Why do the people in your life have value to you? Why do you care what happens to them?
Is it something you choose to feel? Is it something you can't help but feel?
Are you obligated to love certain people? If you don't does that make you bad?
It's seems to be a very complicated thing, and often leads to more pain than pleasure.
So why give it?

There are some common and unique reasons why we do the things we do. I take care of a woman, whom I have had children with, but no longer have a marriage contract relationship with, because I see her hurting and I want her to be all the woman she can be unfettered by fear. I feel in doing this I heal myself in an oblique way. However, I simply do it because I want to. I feel a sense of harmony in this task.
WE have many appetitites, which are all natural and good. Moderation takes years of experience to learn some times.
