Amen.
Although I'd add one thing. He should, by law, have the right to put binding conditions/earmarks on any tax overages he pays. Such as, 'For deficit reduction only', or, 'for public education funding only'.

He says he wants to 'send it to the people'. Apparently they don't have a way to have their positions presented - like a proxy or something
The bigger problem for him is that he's purposefully chose to put himself in a position that will make him look weak. Whether the veto is overturned or it's passed on a ballot initiative, he's gonna lose this fight - and lose big.
It makes him look like what he really is - a weak, selfish bully.
Anyway you want to look at this, it won't play out well for him.
**Edit - In case I'm not clear, his 'compromise' is that it has to be passed via a ballot-initiative or he'll veto it**

Oh. Well I'm good with that then.
Jeez. It makes sense a 'cultural shift' issue can be decided by referendum.
I'd have more respect for him if he'd just say "abolish marriage and enact universal social contracts". But I can't expect him or Democrats to be THAT progressive.
They'll all catch up to me. Sooner or later.
