Unless it's brown people and the cause is vengeance.

Was that to me? I don't care about being brown. I do support vengeance though.

It just seems odd that someone would support death in vengeance but not death in justice. You do realize that innocents are killed in war, right? You can't undo that either.

Now capital punishment really doesnt deter crime because the people who are doing those vile crimes dont think about what they are doing and they never think they will be caught

The Romans punished people in brutal horrific ways and people still committed crimes. The criminal mind is warped

Mr. Arthur has requested advanced DNA testing of a wig worn by the killer, which could help establish his innocence (or his guilt, for that matter). The Alabama authorities have so far opposed additional testing—despite the fact that Mr. Arthur’s counsel has offered to pay for it and that it could be completed before his execution date.

Yeah, I read that too and it is exactly the kind of thing you'd expect to see in a poorly written TV drama with an overzealous prosecutor. However, knowing what country we live it I read it and immediately pictured the prosecution as

I'm against the death penalty anyway, with a few exceptions. Such as those that are convicted of crimes of mass economic fraud/theft/destruction, genocidal atrocities, serial killing and, murder (not self defense) while already incarcerated.

If we can't get by the difference between war and the death penalty then we are going to have a problem moving forward.

@Allstarslacker - I know this will be hard for others to understand and I am just giving my opinion as honestly as I can. Vengeance is an emotional response. If someone were to kill someone I loved and cared about there would be no logic behind my response I would lash out and deal with the consequences afterwards and I would deserve them. When someone is on death row and waiting to be executed I have no emotional attachment to them. I can be more logical in my response. I know killing is wrong for any reason and logically I can't and won't support it.

@Altra_Shadowstalker - I highly doubt we are going to have much of a discussion. Seems like you want to earn some type of gotcha points and thats cool. I just won't entertain it.

Edit: By the way I am against nearly] all war.

An innocent civilian killed in a war zone has no chance to defend himself.

Sure they can. They can help overthrow their government and put in a government that doesn't support terrorists. If they can't do that, then exactly how innocent are they?

I'm not trying for a gotcha, but i know I'm not going to change your mind.

I simply hold Justice in high esteem and vengeance in low. I understand the desire for vengeance but when we're talking about morality or philosophy, it simply seems odd that vengeance makes an act ok where justice makes it bad.

I didn't say vengeance made it okay. Quite the opposite actually since I said it would be emotional and not logical, but to say I could detach myself from an event where someone killed one of my loved ones would be straight out lying. I know I couldn't. I am only speaking for myself not for others.

If there is any doubt at all, someone shouldnt be executed. Even if the doubt is unreasonable.
