"Conservatives" have had their way for the past 40 years for the most part. "Conservative" ideas and designs ruled the country from Nixon (who really was a conservative, but would be considered a socialist liberal commie currently) right thru Bush Mrk. 2.
That is about to change. Younger people are much, much, much more liberal on social issues, and the geezers are retiring and dying off and taking their "conservative" shtick with them. They know it. From here on out it gets more liberal every year for a generation or two.
It's the death knell of social conservatism going on right now. Most tea baggers are in their 50's and above, sure they still vote, but there are less of them every year...and more kids. Sure there are a lot of young "conservatives", but they are the minority in their age group, even if they do whine loud enough to make you forget that some of the time.
Fiscal conservatism has a little longer reach with all the self proclaimed "libertarians" among the youth, but they don't stay libertarian long, once they spit out a few kids....they change their tune. Generational wealth differential is bigger now than at any time in our history, once they get clued in on that, all the "less regulation, free markets or die, let us be free" crap goes away fast. They hold on to the liberal ideals of keep the damn government out of my bedroom however.
Anyway, screw who the President is, it's congress that is going to change stuff, and as the geezers sail off into the sunset, the people replacing them are going to be more and more liberal for a long, long time.
