The judge made the correct ruling.

The plaintiff told police that the man attacked him the day of the incident, then he told other police the next day that the man didn't touch him but confronted him and verbally accosted him, then he testified under oath that the man attacked his fake beard AFTER he himself tore it off to yell at the accused.

There was no physical evidence of an attack. No bruises or contusions and no visible damage to any items of clothing or the fake beard. It was some guy saying he attacked me, well he yelled at me, well he attacked my fake beard....sorta.

Case dismissed.

Where the judge screwed up was in attempting to moralize to the two idiots involved. The judge himself sounds like an idiot when doing so, but he never said Sharia Law trumps the first amendment, he said hiding behind the first amendment in order to provoke and demean others wasn't a very good idea, or nice. Well DUH.....but it isn't a judges job to give his opinion on such matters to either side in a dismissed case and opens him up to the kind of manufactured outrage and faux shit storm we are seeing here.

No matter how you look at it the news story is a piece of whiny propaganda, probably from an islam-hater. Probably all the judge said was "it was pretty stupid of you to dress up as muhammad to try to troll religious people." Which is true enough.

You should probably just imprison anyone who gets outraged when someone pokes fun at their religion. They are probably going to blow up an abortion clinic/rival chruch/themselves or some combination of the three in the near future.
