I was not aware that historical accuracy was relevant to a fantasy video game.

Well, considering the game is really a work of historical fiction and not fantasy, I'd say its relevant.

What part of the word fiction isn't clear to you?

And it is fantasy. Last I checked they didn't have time machines in any era.

Out of all the game, the box art of this one looks bad ass

Have to agree, that is quite a box cover. Especially in this day & age. Although, it doesn't really make sense as it depicts him in the center of a mass battle scene.

Do you understand the difference in genre? Are you going to be intentionally stupid just so you can try to cling to being "right?"

Fantasy is make-believe. Historical Fiction is based on reality, set in a historical time frame with historical figures and revolves around/intertwines with/supplements reality. The plot and a few characters are fictional but usually crafted in a way to better explain or even theorize history. All of this means nothing on its own really, the difference is moot unless you're asking why history is relevant in "fantasy."

So the part about the animus time machine comes from what historical period again? And you could kill people in slow motion and have time stop for a few moments...when exactly?

You're clinging to meaningless semantics and acting like there is some great divide in genres here. I identified this as fantasy from the get go. You want to pretend it's historical fiction and that historical fiction is supposed to be accurate in some way shape or form but in fact even that fundamental part of your argument isn't true.

In many alternate history stories there are things that never existed and were never invented. Historical accuracy is a tool, not a requirement...it can be tossed aside the moment the story or intent to entertain makes it convenient.

If you are going to bring me a semantic argument you are going to have to go a lot deeper than thinking you understand the distinctions in genres here and that I don't. I covered that in my first post and covered it again. This is a work of historical fantasy, and even if it wasn't, historical fiction is not bound by physical laws or likelihoods. Fiction has no limits in that regard.

It's a fantasy video game. With time travel ffs.

Yuki has a point in the impressive architecture but even if you are climbing trees what makes this game is the feeling of height and vertigo it has managed to import to video games. I agree with Yuki that it's a WTF moment but who cares?

If they populate the world with 7 story wood forts and it's still fun to run around from roof to roof killing people who gives a rats ass how accurate it is?
