I happen to know for a fact the Packers don't do it. The issue with Suh showed that. When asked why they didn't retaliate they replied, " We were coached not to. We were told Detroit and Suh would probably do something stupid and the best thing to do was shrug it off. Let the scoreboard do the talking."
I am confident my Packers are not in the douchebag column. They were, I will never forget what they did to McMahon and I will always be ashamed of it, but that was a different team at a different time.
Players should be penalized moving forward unless something egregious is uncovered.
The coaches? Life Ban, barred from any contact or compensation with or from the NFL. Do that to one man and the practice will stop for good.

What the Saints did wrong:
1) A coach was administrating the bounty system (bounties can be fine if they are purely player-run)
2) Outsiders contributed to the bounty pool which creates salary cap violations (it is ok if it is purely players contributing to the bounty pool)
3) There were bounties for injuries (a no-no regardless)
4) People lied to the commissioner about what was going on
I'm sure many/most teams have some sort of player-run bounty system that rewards big plays, but as long as they don't break 1-3, there isn't any real problem with it.

I'm getting tired of a sport that kills its players, grinds them up and spits them out and then has assholes that feel the need to actually inflict more pain than what is already being dished out.
Make the offenders play without pads without suspending them and see if they enjoy that much pain.

A long time ago there was a guy who would pop his arm up at the chin of players to hurt them. He had a long hit list of players he hurt.
My first reaction was a two game suspension but maybe more for those more closely involved. Plus money from the Saints and Williams, some of which should go to the Rams.

Ban them for the whole season. You cannot tolerate a system where players actively tried and rewarded eachother for hurting other players.

Can you call it assault if there is premeditation?
Intent is being carried by the money wagered.
Probably a little farther than it will go, but congress is known to put its nose into things like this.
I miss guys like Romanowski.
