I have no use for an iPad yet but I am looking forward to the day when tablets replace both books and lectures in education. I am also looking forward to the day when tablets replaces printing in business. The amount of money wasted on paper is astonishing. Laptops have helped a bit but the tablet will be instrumental to replacing paper.

So basically the new improvements are:

1) A better processor (was anything even bottle necked as far as hardware requirements on the iPad 2? This will not last long as "ahead of the game"
2) LTE/4g (about time)
3) Retina display (also, about time)
4) ???

Sorry but not impressed

I heard something about haptic texture might make an appearance but I guess not? That would've at least been exciting. This is about as "huge" as the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S

Sounds like a pretty underwhelming announcement overall. Now with 4G LTE!

Not really a selling point for most of us who have no interest in an iPad with a data plan.

Pretty much. Apple's greatest achievements haven't been creating amazing hardware, because there's competitors who have made tablets with just as much functionality and performance, it's their marketing

The $99 revamped Apple TV seems more interesting IMHO.

I've been following CNN Tech's Twitter feed on the announcement. Apparently Apple hasn't even given the new iPad's name yet.

The way apple designs products they will rarely be on the cutting edge of technology. Their development times and their emphasis on design make that too difficult.

In the tablet market they are way ahead of the curve on everything and that is why they are dominating it.

I actually feel bad for Apple. They are in a marketing position where its either make or break. They don't have the luxury of other companies to be able to shoot out simple upgrades in hardware, their upgrades have to be substantial and eye opening because that's what the public expects from them, and that's what they expect from themselves. Anything short of a astonishing achievement is a publicity disaster for them

One thing that people that hate on apple don't seem to get is how much apple pushes the market to be more competitive. It is a clear example of why competition really helps innovation and evolution in a market.

They also have huge profits so I wouldn't worry about them too much yet.
