It is interesting how our culture does its best to both teach people that having status symbols is extremely important and that thinking status symbols are extremley important is bad.  |

We like to brand ourselves. I am what I drive. I am what I do. I am not this or not that. If you have a style then go with it. I bought a pair of Doc martin boots because they have great marketing. The boot is not bad though. i think they earned it. I'll buy a triumph because its not a Harley and I like its style. But wtf do i know? If it fits and looks good then go for it. I dont buy my clothes at Walmart. But I will buy something from a discount place like Marshalls. I hate going to bloomingdales and spending an extra $100-200 for a pair of jeans. i wont do it.

Maybe we should stop paying people to teach the social aspects and just stick to academics, since they seem to be screwing it up badly.

How do you think you get them to stick around? When a woman gives it up she is making an investment of sorts, I say give it up in the sense of any physical contact from holding hands, kissing, heavy petting, sex. Each level is more of an investment... however she still has to like your tail feathers. A good watch, good threads, etc is an important part of the mating ritual.
