I put the CFLs in when I start opening windows regularly. Incandescent goes back in first time I turn the heat on in the fall.
But even in the summer I leave an incandescent mixed in with the CFLs just for the light quality. The flickering gives me headaches otherwise.
Porch light is an amber LED for the no-bugs effect.

I buy CF light bulbs for anywhere from $4 to $8, if that much.
Best part is the buggers last years and years, which is convenient.
If you don't like em get LED, they last even longer.

I know I have a choice. Not much longer but today, yes. That is not what this is about. It is about giving a FOB 11 million of our money for who knows what. It is clearly not for "making and affordable light bulb." A rich liberal might think that is affordable but no one else would.

You might want to look at your own quote then. And it's already been said that things are more expensive when first brought to market, even without gov't involvement. The thing you're typing on now used taxpayer money to invent. It eventually became commercialized and affordable.
