The more money you have, the less the value of a marginal dollar is.
If you are making 20k and make another 20k your standard of living skyrockets.
If you are making 200k and make another 20k your standard of living doesn't change appreciably.
In other words, a 20% tax rate represents a much larger diminishment in standard of living for a middle class person than for a rich person.
Taxes should be set so that they have a roughly equal impact on people of different economic brackets. To do that, taxes on the rich need to be significantly higher than taxes on the poor as a % value.

I personally dont care how much money the rich make, I know they pay more than me, and I'm fine with that they pay twice what I pay if not more. Thats good enough for me personally. But I doubt raising their taxes would accomplish much. Why should the government get more money to blow? They cant balance what they have already why give them more?
