Israel gave back most of land from 67 to make peace with Egypt (again, there was a reason Egypt didn't want Gaza back then, any more than they want it back now). more recently when Israel left Gaza and Hamas proceeded to take control in an extremely violent conflict of their own what happened? violence escalated.
if you care at all about the plight of the Palestinians, you have to consider the role and failurs of the Palestinian leadership.
