Money handling was not considered unclean by early Christian churches but the practice of Usury was considered against god's laws. Jewish dogma doesn't have the same restrictions against charging interest.
I'll give examples...
Christian Loan. "Hey can I borrow 3 gold pieces?" "Sure(hands over the gold)."
Jewish Loan, "Oi canz I borrow tree gold pieces?" "  es but I want 5 in return, by friday, and if you can't pay me I need collateral, your farm will do.(hands over 5 gold, one at a time, counting out loud)((Finds out what borrower needed the gold for and attempts to sabotage the ability of the borrower to pay it back in time))

wow... that's absurd, historically inaccurate, completely wrong, and actually pretty offensive.

It's not inaccurate. It's a made up example but that's what Usury means and that's how Usury was put into practice.
