One of the kids my son works with put out like $700 for an iPhone. The kid drives a car he bought for $400 and misses work regularly because his car won't run, but he does have an iPhone.

Yes, Android NEW PHONE SALES outpaces iPhone.
So what?
You're ignoring 5+ years of pre-existing market penetration by Apple. It should be a gawd damn no-brainer that Android sales outpace iPhone - because those inclined to get iPhones already have?
When Android sales catch up to the literally hundreds of millions of iPhones that were sold prior to the introduction of Android, you let me know.

Huh. Impressive for Apple, according to you.
The first iPhones were released around the beginning of 2007. Android version 1 was released in September 08. Apple sold "hundreds of millions" of iPhones in that time?
Equally impressive, those "hundreds of millions" sold, since as of July 2011, Apple sold in the neighbourhood of 75 million iPhones. The biggest number of iOS devices sold was in the neighbourhood of 200 million. This includes the iPod Touch and the iPads.
You should really get that ego checked, Koneg. It's weighing you down.

Apple is great because there would never be android without apple.
In the long run apple's competition will copy apple's work and beat it because there are more people working on android type stuff. Apple still creates a very competitive product despite the limitations they create for themselves.
Apple is not just a great company for those using apple products but those using the products that are in a market that apple is in. Competition is very important and apple brings it.

monetization of apps is higher on iphones. people are used to paying for things via itunes (mp3s, etc). so for whatever reason they're happier to fork over some dough for apps there. android users tend to be cheapasses.
