Android is snatching up market share though, and will surpass iOS once people realize how restrictive Apple pos products are. or at least recognize that you can do so much more with an Android

Those are sales of new units. It is absolutely no surprise that Android is handily outpacing iOS, because it's been on the market for ~5 years already.

Nobody buys apps on Android. IOS is MUCH more profitable to develop for.

Apple Q1 2012 filing:
37+ million iPhones sold, 15.5 million iPads, and that's just in the first 3 fiscal months.
App developers target iOS because there's a huge market, and that isn't going away any time soon.
