People who think high gas prices dont have a snow ball effect across the economy really need to get a clue...

Price of basic foods are rising daily becaue of high gas...

Is it all the presidents fault no, does he share some of the blame yes... he and some of his people are on record for supporting higher gas prices... even if he does nothing to push gas prices up the threat is there and that creates volatility.

The average American sheep also bleated "STAYCATIONS!!!!" back in 2004 when gas hit a whopping (!!!) TWO DOLLARS A GALLON! Just a couple of years later, they didn't even blink when gas shot over $3.00.

American mouth breathers have an attention span of about a month so they like to make a bunch of noise before American Idol comes on and they forget what they were bitching about.

Are you doubting that the President has ANY say so over the price of gas?

Not directly of course, indirectly.

I've been saying it right along, gas prices are going to hurt Obama.

It could actually wind up helping him.

Historically, gas prices have fallen or stabilized in 5 of the last 6 years, right around Sept./Oct., just in time for an election.

If people have short memories...

Of course not. If Obama decided tomorrow to release the national reserves he could bring prices down a couple cents. He could do some stuff to drive prices up a few cents too.

But that's it. A few cents. And the idea that gas prices are higher because Obama supposedly said he didn't mind high gas prices is stupid in the extreme.

Blaming Obama for high gas prices is like blaming Croatia for world CO2 emissions. Bstulic and all his countrymen could kill their donkeys and walk to and from their yurts instead and that would make about the same difference to world CO2 emissions as Obama makes a difference to gas prices.

When both the President and Energy Sec BOTH state they dont mind seeing higher gas prices, this of course has an effect. This causes the oil speculators to dream up that maybe, just maybe there is going to be a shift in his policy. They see Obama not allowing the Keystone pipeline ( due to enviromental issues ) . They see a ban on offshore drilling. Of course they are going to speculate that oil will be higher..and therefore gas prices.

To think otherwise is stupid. If the President tomorrow made a speech about how he thinks that toilet paper needs to be made from more paper and less cardboard, you would see an increase in paper prices..and lumber, etc.

What ANY President states during a speech has huge ramifications on the economy.

Remember 2-3 years ago where everytime he made a speech the stock market got rocked?
