Again, if the government is going to commit resources and money and risk bad PR should they get caught, or even worse should someone get hurt or killed by the debris of a shot down drone hits them

The US has no jurisdiction to shoot down civilian aircrafts of other countries. The fact that "we could get away with it" just makes us even more bad. We're not the world police nor are we the police of the internet. When did the federal government assume the power to have this kind of authority? Copyright companies can bring them to civil court, but having an actual military act used against a civilian aircraft in another country because they're not complying with copyrights? Seriously? When does it stop?
